Susan B. Anthony s famous Alligator Bag was at her side throughout her years of campaigning for women s rights.  It accompanied her to meetings and rallies as an iconic symbol of strength and resilience.

This 19-page PDF sewing pattern, by Flossie Potter, with detailed instructions and full-color illustrations, is for a miniature version of Ms. Anthony s bag and fliers, advertising the Annual Meeting for Women s Suffrage.  It is the bag that is pictured in the Flossie Potter Women of History:  Susan B. Anthony dress pattern.

For versatility, the pattern could be made of bold colors and prints and used as a bag for books or beach supplies.

Recommended Fabrics:  cotton, flannel, soft knit

Supplies Needed:
-Fabric and lining: 1 4 yd of new material  OR  6 x 9 remnant
-Stiff felt
-Faux leather remnant
-3 mm foam remnant
-Two metal  1 1 2 D-Rings (must have slit on straight portion) DO NOT use molded plastic rings
-Parchment copy paper
Tools:
-Zipper foot is helpful
-Pliers
-Fabric clip or small clothespin
